The UC Davis Active Aggies Alumni Network and Outdoor Adventures invite UC Davis alumni, family, and friends for an exciting day of rock climbing in the beautiful Auburn State Recreation Area! We are excited to be partnering again with our friends in Campus Recreation for this exclusive experience. Whether you’re brand-new to rock climbing or already climbing adventures, this trip is a great way to experience a fully guided day with our experienced student guides, move your body, and spend quality time with fellow Aggies in a beautiful nature landscape.
This trip is rated easy–moderate. No prior experience is required, but participants should be prepared for a short hike, using upper and lower body, and hot weather conditions. Guides will bring water and use shady locations throughout the day.
Date: April 26th, 2026
Time: 7:00 a.m. to about 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. (dependent on traffic conditions)
Location: Meet at the Outdoor Adventures Lodge at 7:00 a.m.
Registrations close Wednesday, April 22, at 12pm.
What to Expect
🧗🏾♀️ Learn how to Belay and use climbing equipment – All gear is provided and staff will take time to instruct safety and movement.
🥾 Beginner-Friendly Activity – Learn basic techniques and tips for moving comfortably and rock.
🧑🤝🧑 Community & Connection – Share a unique climbing experience with fellow alumni, staff, faculty, and friends.
What’s Included?

- Helmet, harness, shoes, devices, ropes
- Transportation
- Instruction from experienced, professional guides
- Group safety equipment
✅ What You’ll Need to Bring:
- Your own transportation to the UC Davis meeting location (lot 30)
- Hot weather, layered clothing (base layers, sun protection layer)
- Closed toe, comfortable shoes for the hike.
- Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
- Refillable water bottles (at least 2 Liter carrying capacity and any personal snacks or lunch in a day pack
