Attention all Aggie wine aficionados! The North Bay Alumni Network and Chicanx Latinx Alumni Association are excited to partner with Aggies Uncorked to offer a fun afternoon of connecting with fellow UC Davis alumni while enjoying light charcuterie and wines produced by Aggie winemaker Armando Ceja. Ceja Vineyards Founder and President Amelia Ceja will be at the event to meet with attendees and provide a presentation at the beginning of the tasting.
You must be 21+ years old to attend. Join Aggies Uncorked for early and discounted admission to this great event and others just like it. Early registration is discounted until November 22, 2024, after which all tickets will be $45. Price of admission includes a minimum of five wines from Ceja's portfolio and charcuterie. The Aggies Uncorked Alumni Wine Club at UC Davis highlights Aggie winemakers and offers members three shipments per year of high-quality wines produced by wineries with a UC Davis connection. Benefits include bottles, tasting notes, recipes, and invitations to special events. Membership options include mixed or red wine packages with 3 or 6 bottles each. A portion of proceeds supports CAAA Scholarships.

The Ceja Vineyards Story
Ceja Vineyards is a Mexican-American family owned winery founded by Amelia, Pedro, Armando, and Martha Ceja producing premium estate grown wines from the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. In one generation the Ceja family has gone from immigrant vineyard workers to grape growers and winery owners. Enhance your wine knowledge as you learn about their rich heritage and see what makes the Carneros region such a premier grape growing region. Recognized by the California legislature as "Woman of the Year" in 2005, Amelia Ceja was the first Mexican-American woman ever to be elected president of a winery. Amelia moved from Mexico to Rutherford in 1967. On her first weekend in Napa Valley, Amelia was in the vineyard harvesting with a knife that seemed half the size of the petite 12-year old. That vineyard wasn't any vineyard, it was Robert Mondavi's Tokalon Vineyard, where her classmate and future husband, Pedro, was also picking Merlot with his family. In 1980, Amelia and Pedro pooled their dreams and marriage vows, and the energetic Amelia joined Pedro, his brother Armando, and their parents Juanita and Pablo Ceja in methodically creating Ceja Vineyards. When the family chose its first president in 1999, Amelia, with nearly a decade in the wine industry and always a firebrand ready for new challenges, was the obvious choice. In the early years, being president also meant being PR and marketing director, compliance person, executive chef, grape picker, and general pick-up person. Embracing both her Mexican heritage and American home, Amelia combines the best of what she finds in food and drink, tradition and innovation. “As a minority cellar, we are shaping the wine industry,” explains Amelia, who was honored as the “most outstanding female leader, innovator and visionary in the wine field in the North Bay” by North Bay Business Journal at its 2008 Women in Business gala.
