About Winery: Dan Person of CARBONISTE asks “Why are we, in California, trying to make Champagne?” A product of much inspiration but not imitation, CARBONISTE has been born out of Dan and Jacqueline’s love of sparkling wine and a desire to reimagine sparkling wine in California. While sparkling wine is their prerogative, they do feature the occasional still wine. CARBONISTE is dedicated to making sparkling wines that are modern and reflective of grape and place.

Aggie Connection: After meeting at UC Davis, Dan and Jacqueline Person worked around the world, then around California. Dan worked for Schramsberg Vineyards for 3 years, making traditional sparkling wines from California grapes. Jacqueline was concurrently making still wines from a variety of terroirs across the Golden State. These experiences shaped their selection of vineyards and vision for CARBONISTE.
