Jeff Fontanella’s winemaking journey began at UC Davis, where a passion for enology led him to abandon medical school. He honed his skills at Opus One and ZD before meeting his future wife, Karen, at a Jimmy Buffett concert. Together, they founded Fontanella Family Winery on Mt. Veeder in 2005, overcoming challenges like an earthquake and wildfire. They expanded their estate in 2016 and 2023, planting additional Cabernet Sauvignon. Now celebrating their 15th harvest, Fontanella Family Winery continues to thrive, with flagship wines like the Estate Reserve Cabernet and the debut of Per Sempre, reflecting their dedication to exceptional winemaking.
