Student Housing oversees undergraduate residence halls, family housing and other residential facilities on campus. In the residence halls, Student Housing offers services to promote academic success as well as educational and social programming.
Safety and Security — The UC Davis Police Department provides 24-hour patrol of the campus, with particular attention to the residence hall areas. Access to buildings is limited to their residents and invited guests; the exterior doors to most buildings are locked 24 hours a day, and residents must use an access card. All students are encouraged to take precautions for their personal safety, and presentations on personal safety and security are offered in the residence halls at the beginning of the fall quarter and throughout the year. Residents should also protect their personal property by registering their bikes, locking computers to their desk and engraving valuables with their student identification or driver’s license number. Off-Campus Housing Workshops — Student Housing offers student workshops about how to find housing for the sophomore year. Usually held during the winter quarter, these programs offer resources for finding housing, including listings of Davis complexes and on-campus housing. The workshops often include sessions on signing leases, budgeting, grocery shopping and meal preparation. Advising in Residence Halls — There are three Academic Advising Centers located in Segundo, Tercero and Cuarto residential complexes. Each center offers tutoring and peer advising from the four undergraduate colleges and the First Resort in Advising Services. Each quarter there are various academic programs geared toward first-year students.
Computer Centers — These four centers are an academic resource for students living in residence halls. They provide residents with complimentary access to computers, printers, scanners and the Internet; and space for studying and holding review sessions. Student staff are available to provide computer-related help and tutoring and to assist residents who are setting up their personal computers for ResNet access.

ASUCD Community Housing Listing
The Community Housing Listing maintains a database of available off-campus housing as a service to UC Davis students and others in the community. There are postings of apartments and houses available for rent or sublet, roommates wanted and rooms available in private homes.
Listings can be searched by location or by date of availability and other criteria. Viewing the listings is free; posting a listing for the first month costs $7 for UC Davis students and $25 for nonstudents.

Dining Services operates the four dining halls and offers flexible meal plans for students living in residence halls or off-campus. Convenient dining hours include a special late night service. Special dining features include festive theme nights and meals prepared from students’ family recipes. The Dining Services staff includes chefs trained at leading culinary schools and a dietician who is available to address special dietary needs and answer students’ questions about nutrition.
Gift University — Dining Services offers several ways loved ones can surprise their students with some TLC. Goodies — from cookies to balloon bouquets and birthday cakes to final exam kits — can be delivered to residence halls.
Recipes from Home — Dining Services invites parents of students living in residence halls to submit recipes that are Favorites from Home for use in dining hall menus. A committee of students, food service managers and the staff dietitian review the recipes and choose about 30 to use in the latter half of winter quarter. The recipes — selected for their appeal, uniqueness and adaptability to large quantities — may be for meat, vegetarian or vegan entrees; salads; soups; breads; side dishes; or desserts.
Changes to Meal Plans — Students may upgrade or downgrade their meal plan each quarter until the published deadlines. Changes made after these dates are limited only to upgrades. Residence hall students who find that they may not have a sufficient number of meals to complete a quarter may purchase additional blocks of meals at the Accounts Office in Room 170 of the Student Housing office.
Plans for Off-Campus Residents — Students living off campus also may eat at any of the dining facilities through the Join the Club program.
